Windows

The new windows are in. Here’s the good:

We paid extra for this nice vertical grain fir

All masked off to get coated with an oil/wax sealant.

And now for the bad and the ugly. Look at what’s happened to the outside of our house!

This is the original trim which is now exposed for the first time since the vinyl siding went on. And we assume the vinyl siding went on at least 10 years ago. If you’re interested, look up the statistics for the likelihood that this is lead paint flaking off our 1948 home (or just ask me and I’ll tell you).

Here you can see where the vinyl guys removed some of the original siding entirely (I don’t know whether to call that trim or siding). There were two boards joined at a 90 degree angle at that corner under the window sill.

There’s the original siding. The paint actually looks far less bad than it does on the window frames, maybe the vinyl insulated it better than the aluminum that was over the windows (or let it breath more? no idea). That’s 1948 cedar siding under there.

Anyway. Here she is.
